MIXED CASES Nº1: NOTED FOR ITSSSSEXCELLENCE
As Orson Welles is kindly pointing out here, traditional method fizz is fermented in the bottle…. however you don’t necessarily have to stick to the well known Champagne chateaux’s to enjoy a traditional method sparkling wine. Our first case contains an excellent grower’s Champagne, South African Cap Classique and one of the best English Sparkling we’ve had the pleasure of tasting.
1. Guy Mea La Tradition Brut Premier Cru
The Cuvee La Tradition comprises 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay with 7g/L dosage. It spends 10 months in enamelled vats and almost 3 years on the lees in bottle. This results in a fantastically complex Champagne with freshness and fine mousse.
2. Krone Borealis Cuvee Brut
A rich, biscuity and toasty Cap Classique. A luxurious perlage of fine, consistent bubbles that compliment the smooth texture. Long and dry on the finish that'll keep you reaching for another glass.
3. Sugrue The Trouble With Dreams
Those with a keen eye for English wine have been watching Dermot Sugrue, rather closely. Made in vanishingly small quantities, his wines have been picking up serious praise, and rightly so. Bold, precise, linear. Everything that is great about English sparkling.
