Amarone Velluto is rare, elegant wine, made with natural yeast from grapes grown in the birth place of Amarone, Sant Ambrogio della Valpolicella. Carlo Meroni uses the techniques that his family has used for generations, achieving fermentation with natural yeast and maturation in huge 30 year old barrels for five years. The final wine is an incredible brew of dried fruits, mocha and coffee, wild flowers and liquorice. The palate is rich and opulent. Drinking well now but still has ageing potential yet.
