MIXED CASES Nº4: DIAMONDS IN THE GLASS (EXPENSIVE TASTE)
The next instalment of our mixed cases series, hand picked by members of the Ad Hoc team (no prizes for guessing who selected this case). If there’s two things that shaped a young Callum Black it’s Moulin Rouge and female rap leading to an obsession with (up for debate) the finer things in life. There’s no debating his selections here though!
TALLEY ESTATE CHARDONNAY
Bold & elegant. Aromas of peach, citrus, roasted almond, brioche and honey. Leading on to an outstanding palette of golden apple, crushed rocks, pear, flint, caramel. All rounded by a generous finish with concentration and toast. Big Chard!
CLOS CIBONNE CUVEE TRADITION ROSÉ
Provence Rosé unlike you may expect. It is easy to see why Tibouren almost went extinct; it ripens unevenly, gives uneven yields, is particularly susceptible to disease and requires an awful lot of hard work in the vineyard. However André Roux, and his estate Clos Cibonne, one of only eighteen in Provence with Cru Classé status, saw the true potential of the grape.
Salmon-orange with an almost rose-gold Hue. Aromas of wild red berries and citrus; spicy, earthy and complex. Wild berries lead into tangy orange zest and ripe peach; followed by a wonderfully earthy spice with notes of Provençal herbs, jasmine and a prominent crushed stone minerality.
DOMAINE RENÉ BOUVIER BOURGOGNE
Juicy and fruity, this is an elegant, spicy, strawberry-scented Burgundy, so fresh and light on its feet. It has true body, which allows it to be kept for years, but its juicy character will tempt you to taste it with pleasure from its early youth.
