The Mosel wine region located in Northern Germany is famed for it's steep sloped vineyards overlooking the river Mosel - and despite it's harsh, cool climate, winemakers in the region have overcome a multitude of challenges to produce some exceptional quality Riesling wines.

Despite being Germany's third largest region in terms of wine production, Mosel is often considered the leading wine region in Germany and it produces Riesling in a multitude of styles varying from 'Trocken' meaning dry, 'Kabinett' where grapes are harvested at their full ripeness leading to off-dry and medium sweet wines, 'Spätlese' which translates to 'late harvest' where the wines are made from riper grapes picked at a later stage, and 'Auslese' meaning 'selected harvest' where grapes with the highest sugar content are selected for the end wine.

This case contains three of our favourite Riesling's from the Mosel region:

  • Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt 'Alte Reben' Riesling Trocken - a dry, straight down the road wine with everything you've come to expect from a quality Mosel Riesling. Hints of petrol on the nose and emphasis on juicy, zesty green apples with honeysuckle and citrus. Generous minerality on the finish.
  • Max Ferd. Richter Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett - a delicately off-dry Riesling that expresses vibrant lime citrus acidity, white peaches and a spicy minerality. Delicious with soft cheeses.
  • Kerpen Blauschiefer Riesling Trocken - a dry Riesling with electric green apple zest interlaced delicately with white blossom florals and hints of grapefruit. Expect generous minerality, as is the norm with dry Mosel Riesling.
